PIP Applications

Careful preparation for your Personal Independence Payment claim.

Overview

What this service involves

Personal Independence Payment is assessed under the Social Security (Personal Independence Payment) Regulations 2013, on how your condition affects your daily living and mobility — not on the diagnosis itself. Describing that impact accurately, consistently and in enough detail is what the forms are really asking for, and it is where most people find the process difficult.

We help you prepare your claim properly: understanding the descriptors, recording your difficulties honestly and in your own words, and organising the evidence that supports what you have written.

How the scoring works
Points are awarded against descriptors, then totalled for each component separately. Eight points reaches the standard rate and twelve reaches the enhanced rate, so a claim can result in one component, both, or neither.Thresholds set by the Social Security (Personal Independence Payment) Regulations 2013. This shows the thresholds only — what anyone scores is a matter for the assessment, and ClaimWise cannot influence or predict it.

Process

How It Works

Four stages, applied consistently, so you always know where you are.

  1. Initial Consultation

We discuss your circumstances, the difficulties you experience day to day and where you currently are in the PIP process.

  2. Assessment & Planning

We go through the descriptors together, identify which areas are most relevant to you and plan what supporting evidence to gather.

  3. Preparation

We work through the forms with you, making sure your answers are accurate, detailed and consistent, then check everything before submission.

  4. Ongoing Support

We help you prepare for an assessment, explain any correspondence you receive and talk you through the options available to you afterwards.

Questions

About pip application

The questions we are asked most often about this service.

  • We cannot make any claim about the outcome, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. The decision belongs to the Department for Work and Pensions. What preparation affects is whether the form in front of them describes your situation accurately, in enough detail, and consistently.

  • We help you prepare for it — what will be asked, how the descriptors work, and how to describe a typical day rather than your best one. Whether someone may accompany you to the assessment itself is a matter for the assessment provider, and we will explain their rules.

  • That is directly relevant, not a complication. Where ability fluctuates, the descriptor that applies is the one fitting the majority of days over a twelve-month period. Describing that variation accurately is part of what the form is asking for.

  • We can help you prepare the request and organise supporting evidence. Time limits apply and they run from the date on the decision letter, so if you are considering it, get in touch promptly rather than waiting.
